Hi, Galigan!
This is a great entry--it's highly readable, informative, and give a good overview of the Islands.
A few small points:
You mention finance as one of the main industries--isn't this because the regulation regime is very different from that of the UK?
You say:
"In 1942-43, 2,000 British people, including whole families with children, were forcibly deported to camps in southern Germany. No reason for this was given at the time."
Did any reason come out afterwards? Were these all the British residents who hadn't been evacuated? (As opposed to the native Islanders.)
The blonde hedgehogs sound fascinating--is there any reason they don't have fleas?
A few nitpicks:
"Guernsey also plays host to a population of around ,"
I take it you forgot to look up the missing figure!
"Instead the populations employ bicycles to get about,"
----"..population employs..."
"Just as well then that Herm is an area of unspoiled natural beauty and subsequently is a walker's paradise."
----"consequently", not "subsequently"
Anyway, this is an excellent entry, and should make its way into the Edited Guide without any problems.
Azara

Very good, and remakably complete for covering so many different areas.
I've always liked the description of Alderney - "2,000 alcoholics clinging to a rock."
Perhaps a mention of the atmosphere on the islands, with Guernsey and the small islands being much more reserved than Jersey.
What about the coastline - all the wrecks ?
The Breweries - can you still get Mary Ann ?
I worked on Jersey at the St Brelades Bay Hotel, and picking potatoes, and on Guernsay picking roses. I also met my wife on Guernsey - on the football club tour.

Was it me, or did I read that a few years ago some guy tried to reclaim a channel island for germany ?

This is an excellent entry. I've been to Jersey myself and think that it probably deserves more than the few lines you've given it. What about Gorey Castle? What about the Orchid house? (can't remember the name) Would it be worth mentioning that the main town is called St Helier? You could also mention that the beaches on Jersey are probably the best place in world for building sandcastles, and link to the Sandcastlese entry A471557.
You should also mention that the main town in Guernsey is called St Peter Port.
There are a lot of little minor details which you should correct. This looks like a long list, but it shouldn't take you long to work through.
"the UK or Great Britain" -- You have the link to the UK entry on the phrase "Great Britain" when it should be on "UK".
I think you should drop the "THe Islands" header and make "Jersey", "Guernsey" etc into headers rather than subheaders.
The sentence listing the points of interest in Jersey would be better broken up using semicolons instead of commas: put semicolons after "in the world" and "WWII".
Gerrald Durrell --> Gerald Durrell
tells the story of the island's history --> which tells the story of the island's history
second largest of the Islands --> second largest of the islands
measuring at 25 square miles --> at 25 square miles
plays host to a population of around , -- fill in the figure here please
over 70 species are housed -- add a full stop after this
Small numbers should be spelled out rather than using digits:
3 and a half --> three and a half
1 and a half --> one and a half
9 miles --> nine miles
albeit is less international --> albeit less international
at it's widest --> at its widest
You might like to link to A510931 Hedgehogs.
Sark is a small islands --> Sark is a small island
watch out for.1 -- put the footnote before the full stop rather than after it.
King William 1 --> King William I
14 June 1940 --> 14 June, 1940
6 June 1944 --> 6 June, 1944
has it's origins --> has its origins
We're supposed to keep these entries impersonal, as if they were written by a team, so you should probably change your footnote:
put "One researcher comments:" at the start and put the rest of the footnote in italics.
Good work!

wow! thanks for all the input guys. i realise that there's a lot of careless mistakes there and i was honeslty intending to include the population of guernsey but i completely missed it.
i'm going to try to correct it gramatically now and then i'll tackle the stuff that's been left out.
whoever said the entry on each individual island was a bit short (sorry, forgot who), that's because they're supposed to be an overview of the island and there will eventually be an entire entry on each island because there's a bit too much to cram into this entry. there's already a good one on guernsey which i think i linked to.
more to come and thanks everyone for your feedback.

ok, all that stuff has been added and/or corrected. hope it looks better now.
i'm not sure how the Peer Review system works in this aspect but do i credit all of you for helping? if so do i put your names in that new 'additional research' thingumy that was announced a while ago on the announcements page?

I don't think the correct form would be to credit people unless they contributed significant information to your entry.

There is an item I would like to see added to this well written entry. The Jersey Cabbage growing to ridiculous heights as it does really deserves bit of a mention.
So does Alfonse "king of les ecrehous" and not the beast of jersey.

Les Ecrehous is a small reef off Jersey containing about nine houses. Back in the sixties Jersey had a paedophile problem. Alphonse, being a loner, was considered to be the main suspect. He left the main island and declared himself to be "the king of les ecrehous."
He was subsequently found to be innocent. Probably not really apt for this entry, just a strange little story.

Alphonse le Gastellois was his full name.

probably not no. although if the Jersey entry is updated that could be included. that's a little too specific for this entry as it's supposed to be a broad overview.

Your Guide Entry has just been picked from Peer Review by one of our Scouts, and is now heading off into the Editorial Process, which ends with publication in the Edited Guide. We've therefore moved this Review Conversation out of Peer Review and to the entry itself.
If you'd like to know what happens now, check out the page on 'What Happens after your Entry has been Recommended?' at EditedGuide-Process. We hope this explains everything.
Thanks for contributing to the Edited Guide!
