Thought I'd ask this here rather than in Peer Review. If I want people to be able to email me links, how can I display my email addy without it being displayed, if you know what I mean?

Magic -- I don't know that there is a way. If this used HTML rather than XML/GuideML, we could use the "mailto" option in the link tag. I don't think that works here, although I haven't acutally tried.
Here are some options --
You can start up a hotmail account, and then post that hotmail account on your h2g2 personal space. People can email you links and such there, but you don't have to worry about getting spam and whatnot at your regular email address, or about privacy invasion.
You can have people put the links they want to share with you in guide entries, rather than in conversation postings. If you look at my personal space, you'll see a link to an entry where I keep all the external links I need to share with people.
