I think this is probably closer to what you called lobar collapse.
Would it have anything to do with the fact that I get pleuritis a lot? Although I remember thinking that didn't really affect the lungs themselves very much.
hmmmm....
Mikey, stuck at home for yet another day after an embarassingly futile attempt at making it to the office

Hummm logically it could be couldn't it, though I don't see how pleuritis would lead to collapse. (we still call plueritic inflamation pluersy which sounds like the sort of disease that millions of people died of medievel times)
Relax - you've had an operation, (says me who is famous for getting back to work within a week of one, whilst still slightly aneasetised) - I completely failed to do my job once I got there, I just really didn't like daytime TV.

Yeah, I'm also known for chafing at the bit a little too much after surgeries or pneumonias or whatnot. My pulmonologist when I was at university once made me go home for the weekend with his nurse because he was so afraid I'd be back at the lab that night. Of course, he was probably right, but what 19 year-old likes being ordered around?
Well, I just got back from an afternoon at the doc's office -- now they're saying the lungs seem to be doing mostly better, but I need to stay home some longer because I've apparently developed another respiratory infection and some adrenal insufficiency from the surgery. GROWL.
I'm going to see if I can get my boss to email me some work to do from home.
Daytime TV I refuse to sink to -- when you're actually *in* the hospital, you really have no choice, since they don't even get the cable channels here -- do y'all have anything quite as insanely trashy as the Jerry Springer Show and his assorted imitators? But since I'm at home, and just have to stay on the bed or the sofa, I at least have my computer, a nintendo, and a DVD player with a stack of movies I haven't seen yet.

You're really a workaholic aren't you?
Well I suppose at least the infection explains the fever. yes I'm ashamed to say that we do have Jerry Springer shown here, and some which are almost as bad. Not quite. Thank god. One particually vile offering called Trisha, but I tend to aviod it. It's quite adsorbing when you're in the common room and trying to aviod actually doing any work.

Mikey the Humming Mouse - A3938628 Learn More About the Edited Guide! Posted Sep 7, 2003
I'll add you to our NW researchers list, no problem! Go and check, you should show up now.
So, are you a native Seattlite or a transplant, like me?
And yup, I'm of the female persuasion. Mikey has been my nickname since I was younger, although sometimes I spell it as Miki now to help people figure out that it's a girl's name.

Hi, Mikey!

I started out in Chicago and Texas, but I like Seattle quite a bit better, especially the weather and the mountains.
The traffic here may be bad, but it's actually decent compared to Chicago or Dallas, mostly I think because Seattle isn't as spread out as those cities are.

Hi there, again!
There are all sorts of ways to contribute to h2g2 other than just writing entries for the Edited Guide. Myself, I like writing entries (and helping newbies in Peer Review), but I know that's not everyone's cup of .
Some people like to hang around and chat in the different community areas on h2g2 -- like Ask h2g2 or the "forum". Other people get really into running games and quizzes.
Some hootooers (i.e., people on h2g2, which can be pronounced "hootoo") of a helpful persuasion like being part of one of the volunteer groups. The Scouts and Subeds focus a lot on writing entries, but the ACEs are all about making people feel welcome (like Shea, the ACE who left a message on your space when you joined) and the Gurus are about helping people figure out how things work around here.
There's also a group called the Community Artists, and they draw the pictures for the Edited Guide entries. The illustrations are done on computers, though, not with pencil/paper. There are also unofficial groups on h2g2 that get a kick out of making ASCII art or table art for their personal spaces.
As far as I know, the official volunteer groups aren't taking new members right now, because the italics (those in charge) are on a bit of a hiatus, making some strategic changes in how things are done around here. It's entirely possible that when they come back, some of those volunteer groups may have been changed, or even eliminated. But, there are tons of things to do around here without being a volunteer -- I certainly wasn't one when I first joined up (about 4 years ago, believe it or not!).
You might have fun with the ASCII art or table art people, if you're feeling like something creative. Or you might find a special interest group or discussion forum you really enjoy. If there's anything in particular you're looking for or are interested in, just let me know and I'll try to help you find it.

That depends on if you want the link to be in a posting (or something else that's in text rather than GuideML, like a journal entry) or in an entry in GuideML (like your personal space).
The main front page for the picture library is at C809 or A692741. As you can see here, to make those links in a posting (or a journal entry or something else not in GuideML), all you have to do is type the A number of the entry.
If you want to put the link on your personal space, you have to use the GuideML for links, which would be like:
The h2g2 Picture Library
If you want to link to a specific picture, you do the same thing, but using the Blob number rather than the A-number:
i.e., either <./>B214996</.> or Two Drummers
In that first one, h2g2 doesn't automatically turn blobs into links on postings like it does A numbers for entries, so I put a <. /> in front of the blob number (but with that space in the middle removed), and a </ .> at the end.
To actually use a picture in an entry or personal space that's in GuideML, you use this kind of code:
Hope this helps!

The number for the NW Researcher's page is A537428
If you can bring a page or entry up on your screen, the A number is always at the end of the URL in your browser -- in this case, the full URL was:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/A537428
It looks like you've had some fun working on your page -- you got the viewer tag to work at least!
