Very sad. I really enjoyed it when several and I used to co-write a Post sports column- me from the ENglish side, he from the American side. We'd always email each other any stupid sports stories we might come across, and editing his section of the column was always fun. I often wished I could write about sport as enagingly and originally as he did- my contributions seemed pale in comparison.
I'll miss him.

Oh...
several was an absolutely first rate person... I remember talking baseball with him from time to time. Knew a lot more about the sport than I do, for one thing, and was more passionate about it. If there's baseball in heaven, I'll sit right alongside several, dazzled I'm sure.

I can only echo what Egon said. I didn't realise Rick had passed away until I read the Post this week. He was a smashing bloke - we communicated by email every now and then when I briefly took over the Sports column. Knowing his love of an ice-cold beer, I'm sure he'd want us all to have one in his memory.

I never knew him the way some of y'all did but I often read his column in the Post. His wit and way with words made me laugh nearly every time. He will be sorely missed.
