Lets face it, it was a bit of a long shot as a comparison.

Long shot! It's perfectly on the mark! Shakespeare just didn't write about fungus cause he was too busy writing all of that dirty old man stuff.

I thought fungus was part of being a dirty old man.

Well, maybe he just didn't want anyone to know how dirty he *really* was.

And where would the bard be if he had his reputation sullied like that.

He should have written a play about Fungus. Will the 2 protozoa find true love even though they are from seperate colonies? Or will mutations cause them to genetically drift further and further apart! It could be called "A Tale of Two Fungi".

Or the Fungi of Venice

What about 'Midsummer Night's Fungus'?
Sounds rather unpleasant, don't you think?

If fungus is the food of love....then...then...
Then what?!

Then we're in a heck of a lot of trouble, and living in a dark and silent world devoid of romance and joy.
All in all, I rather hope it isn't.

Either that or we would all spend eternity eating Quorn.

This is by far one of the best forum I've read in all my days at h2g2 (which are not many, but I've read lots in a short time). Thanks for the giggles. Though, I suppose I have to give some credit to the two glasses of bad Chianti I've consumed (brought them over from that other pub...I know there is no bad wine here ). I read from love to mould in 15 minutes. A perfect evolution.

Fungus isn't the food of love, cos the alternative is too horrible to contemplate.

Ooooo...what alternative is worse than fungus as the food of love? No...nevermind. I don't think I want to know.
