I'd just like to share a local news story that cheered me up greatly, and to offer my applause to Cambridge city council. 
It did my old punk fan's 
good to read about how they've managed to outrage their local religious zealots by getting their Christmas lights turned on by... The Damned.

By contrast, one of my friends was traumatised today when she came out of work at 5:30 to find herself unexpectedly listening to Gareth Gates singing live. 
He was in Bradford Centenary Square to switch on our local festive lights and warble a couple of numbers. I think she should sue the Council for putting her through such dreadful distress.
