Project 42 is a loving musical tribute to the H2G2 series of books. It is the creation of a performer using the name of Zaphod. OK, Zaphod is me and I must stop referring to myself in the third person, it just creeps me out. I think the series are the funniest books ever written and no matter how many times I read them I still laugh out loud. The project is to create original music for each chapter and character in the books. I realize this will be a huge undertaking but I am determined. I originally planned on making it all instrumental as I realize I sing like bricks don't. Then I thought why not find some passionate fans of H2G2 to help. The plan is simple, I record some tracks with drums and rhythm and upload them to a web page. Potential contributors would them listen to them, find one that fancies their style, download it and add their vocal track(s) and send it to me. I would then add more tracks to compliment the vocals and post the finished song to the page, giving credit to all contributors. No money is involved as this is truly a labor of love. I have created an email account just for communicating with any interested volunteers. It is [email protected]

I cant help at all my musical talent is worse than a Vogons potery ability.

thx bobstafford (almighty bob?), I will also be seeking lyrics. There are 167 chapters in the books. If my entry passes peer review I will post the webpage where one can check out the finished songs as well as those in progress.

Hi Zaphod

This sounds like a really cool project and you must be really dedicated to write so many songs.

Unfortunately this Entry is not really what we are looking for for the Approved Guide, but this does not mean that your project cannot have its place on h2g2.

I would propose the following: Extend this Entry a bit more, give more details about what exactly you do, maybe describe the music you make for the first chapter (or any other you particularly like).
Then send it in an email to The Post ( http://h2g2.com/entry/thepost ) which is h2g2's weekly newspaper. I am sure Dmitri will be happy to publish it so everyone here on h2g2 and our readers knows about it. You can also keep us all updated by writing another article for the Post at a later stage.
If you have a sample piece you can post it on youtube or something and link to it. And you can give example lyrics. Maybe this could be a new regular series for The Post? Who knows.

Additionally you could post to the Forum Ask h2g2 and 'ask' people to participate in this project. Maybe some will have good advice for you.

( Also, please be careful about posting your personal email address on the web. You may attract many spammers. For such a project my personal advice would be making a whole new email address which is only dedicated to this project. )

I agree wholeheartedly with the above comment from Tavaron. To assist you I am going to move this Entry from Peer Review, on the grounds that this is the wrong place for such an initiative.

I'll place it in the Alternative Writing Workshop, where hopefully you'll get some help on improving the Introduction to this project.

Thank you Lanzababy for your help. Who do I contact about getting my company credit card? There is a very large, dangerous looking bartender demanding that I settle a bar tab I incurred legitimately during my research for the Guide. Ouch, he has my writing hand in a crippling grip.

If we had company credit cards Zaphod, you'd be first in line.
