That would be the Stanford Remote Viewing project. This was done by the Stanford Research Institute (*not* to be confused with Stanford University) and funded by the CIA, running from the late 1970's until 1995. In 1995, the CIA (under financial pressure for the first time in decades) enlisted the help of Ray Hyman to audit the programme and provide a cost/benefit analysis.

The verdict? Twenty *million* dollars of US taxpayers' money was spent on *nothing*. No useful results were obtained. Remote viewing and "astral projection" were debunked, at great expense, and people who are not susceptible to evidence go on believing in this palpable bullshit.
