A Conversation for Lucid Dreaming

Many times I have tried this lucid-dreaming thing, but each time the result is the same: Once I realize I am dreaming, it creates
a jolt which wakes me up. This makes sense since up to that point I was convinced I was living in the real world. Perhaps more repetition is necessary to acheive this?

An interesting variant is when you dream that you are having a lucid dream, but then wake from this dream only to find yourself still dreaming. This can be rather unsettleing, beause you are never quite sure whether or not you were in control of the first, and then the same thing for the second. If you get my meaning. Dreams are rather confusing things really, and there should be more of them.

Maybe you believe too strongly in reality
Is the jolt not the reaction to the fact that you don't really expect to be dreaming ?

Yes, by the time I am dreaming I have long since forgotten that I fell asleep at some point. It's sort of like the suspension of disbelief that people are supposed to have when watching a film or a play. The more I think about it, the more it makes sense that I would be shocked upon realizing that everything that was happening just previous was not real.
Maybe I believe too strongly in reality? Well, one must be realistic, but not too realistic.
