Next to the Cathedral there is also the railway station. Very nice, too. I took some photos. It has a nice roof of iron and glass looking like huge umbrellas. http://img.fotocommunity.com/images/Bahnhoefe-Gleise/Bahngebaeude/Koeln-Bahnhof-a29140184.jpg

Oh, thanks, Tav! smiley - biggrin That's a great photo! (If you'll send it to the Post, we can use it...smiley - winkeye)

I have many happy memories of the train station in Cologne. There used to be a fruit stand in there. Since they got a lot of tourists, they had annoying behaviour, and a language problem.

So they put up a sign that said: 'Please don't squeeze the fruits.'

It caused a chuckle at my school. smiley - whistle

Icy North

I visited last year - the mediaeval quarter is very impressive, but disappointingly small compared to the huge shopping/commercial area. And the museum is hideously ugly.

Ah, you mean the Roemisch-Germanisches Museum? Yeah, architecturally, not much. But the contents were fun. smiley - laugh

It's a nice, fresh scent. Pne of our profs at Pitt swore by it as a way to cool off in hot weather. smiley - rofl

Pierre de la Mer ~ sometimes slightly worried but never panicking ~

At school we were told that they have never finished building the cathedral because they choose to built it out of sandstone - which is eroded as quickly by air pollution as they can fasten it to the facade smiley - erm

I choose to believe that 4711 has nothing to do with it, though smiley - whistle

smiley - pirate
