coastal erosion, seaweed harvesting.

I have been doing a bit of research on seaweed harvesting by trawler dredging and would like to find out more, in particular any long term research involving dredging.
There is a good bit of information on the net but nothing very up to date, and no research that i can find extending beyond a couple of years.

Humboldt State University has excellent programs in Marine Biology and Resource Management. You might try their extensive library.

Rightiho, have tried contacting Humbolt university but have had no sucess - no access to library either - so any other ideas.
This is a matter of some importance - there is huge activity here along the coast, Brazil has had huge problems caused by overharvesting ( i need more details), and now france is experiencing problems with seaweed possibly caused by nutrients not being taken up by seaweed in other parts of the north sea (ie here)
I need answers to questions such as what nutrients are taken up,does growing seaweed take up more nutrients than old seaweed?
Can algal blooms be prevented by higher plants taking up nutrients?
So if anyone can help id be very greatful.
