Two related questions here.
Im wondering whether grapes provide water to your body or dehydrate you.
Also grapes have a little sugar in them, therefore can you gain weight on them, some people say you can but ive always thought that its quite hard to gain weight off simple sugars and its more the fat i eat that causes weight gain.

Nae worries smiley - ok Nobody else will notice. All researchers on H2G2 are mature and sober sorts except for me smiley - whistle Oh and one of the 'features' of H2G2 is that the headline title remains unchanged forever except in the conversation itself. Anyway, back to the question itself .....

A 3/4 cup serving of grapes contains 90 calories from 23 grams of carbohydrate, of which 20 grams are sugar, according to this site:

Grapes are about 80% - 90% water, give or take rather a lot based on variety and freshness. So the question becomes, can the human body break down 23 grams of carbohydrates with just the water in the grapes. I don't know enough about the chemistry involved in metabolism, perhaps a nutritional specialist can jump in here?

Weight loss/gain is a terribly complex subject, having a lot to do with activity levels (exercise) and the types of foods we eat (diet). Grapes certainly can be part of a healthy diet. My mom has had a lot of success with the following diet from the Mayo Clinic, which sensibly includes several servings of fruit and vegetable per day:
