I think that might not be a good idea. Late night psycho-babble needs a straight person on the receiving end. Otherwise it's just not properly appreciated.
I think you can have a series of random stuff, as long as it's evenly spaced out.

Note that I avoided the obvious 'vomit' joke, as it's still a bit early for me to sink to such depths for a cheap laugh. Wait a minute... doh!

What obvious vomit joke? You must understand that it is quite late here - my wine-soaked and night-drenched brainis no match for your just-had-lunch young and sprightly mind - I do not necessarily see the obvious.
hang on - young and sprightly - I'm younger than you - sprightly perhaps then...

I neither said you were old nor older - I just happened to mention you are not young and I am younger - pedants revolt...

The age thing is of no consequence to me. What about the 'vomit' joke?

The vomit joke - funny once explained .. I told you I was a bit slow. I would never have got it though if you hadn't've pointed out which bit it was referring to.

I guess i should've been clearer on that one, but I thought it would have been funnier if you'd made the connection on your own.
Hope my previous response didn't sound all snarky and defensive. Sometimes I neglect to put smilies where they ought to be. (at the end of every statement I make, lately, except this one)
