Travelling to Germany for the funeral today.
The taxi picked me up at 2.30, I caught the 3.00 bus to Dublin airport, and got there around 5. Now it's 7.00, and I'm waiting at the airport. And waiting. And waiting. The flight is delayed because of fog in Frankfurt.
I met a girl on the bus who is also a student at Queen's, and is travelling to Germany for her grandfather's funeral. Which is today. Looks like she'll miss it because of the delay 
Good thing I'm going a day early...

You have probably left by now, but my best wishes just the same. I am so sorry I missed the thread where you announced his death and offer my condolences now.
At least we won't have the Germans laughing at us now because of the planes that were grounded because of the fog in Heathrow a couple of days ago. They still think it rains all the time in the UK. Snow has already been predicted for this part of the world. And it was warm enough to swim outdoors a week ago!

Finally got there - three hours later than intended. Now I need to find a corner to collapse in.
There was a sign in Frankfurt airport, with a big arrow pointing down to what must have been some kind of, er, valve for a hydraulic door - but it was a bit unfortunately translated.

Only actuates in the presence of danger!"
It sounded like some kind of spidey sense gone horribly wrong. 
Gave me the giggles, anyway, but then I haven't slept.
