Hardly impartial - but I can't think of anything bad to say about the Mounties - except that stupid television programme.

There is only one thing worse than being Gosho, and that is not being Gosho

I liked Due South smiley - cross

"friends and neighbors who have pledged to serve and protect."
'who *they* have pledged'?

adulterate - adulterated

The quotes from the Fort Benton Record and from Rex Murphy need to be in italics.

"took a turn dangerous to Canada"
I think 'took a turn dangerous toward Canada' might sound better.

7000 - 7,000 (House Style)

"Three of the dead where Mounties"
were

"another thee Mounties"
three

arctic - Arctic

1990's - 1990s

"While it's members"
its

maneuvers - manoeuvres

"set to music performed by a team of 32 horses and riders"
Music performed by horses... I want to see that smiley - bigeyes I think what you mean is:
'consists of a series of equestrian displays set to music, performed by a team of 32 horses and riders' smiley - winkeye Although there may be a better yet way of phrasing that sentence.

'Musical Ride', 'Musical ride', or 'musical ride'?

You need to put a paragraph tag around "The Guidon, when not paraded for ceremonial occasions, is on display in RCMP National Headquarters in Ottawa."

I am Donald Sutherland

Excellent entry Anhaga. A good read, especially having had first hand contact with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. Once in a bar in Calgary and at the Airport in Edmonton. Woke me up he did, at 6:00 AM. Still, he woke everyone else up as well, so I can't complain.

An interesting footnote: The Royal Canadian Mounted Police is the only police force left with Royal in the tile. There used to be three of them. The Royal Hong Kong Police, The Royal Ulster Constabulary and The Royal Canadian Mounted Police.

The other two have disappeared but the Royal Canadian Mounted Police goes on. smiley - ok
