Sanctuary

My 14 year old son has recently become interested in the idea of sanctuary, as in commit a crime, run for cover in a church and claim sanctuary. No I don't know what he has done and I can't worry about it any more.
Anybody know anything about sanctuary?

Well, unless he plan to spend the rest of his life in church I think it is a bad idea. They´ll get to him as soon as he goes outside of the church. But the whole sanctuary thing, shouldn´t that have been abolished with the secularization?
