Anyone reading "The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen Century 2009"?

Just read this. In the absence of Jess Nevins' annotations (so far) I'm trying to spot/explain some of the various references I've found in it. If you can help me with any of the ones marked ???, please let me know.

One the first full page spread, there's a shop call "C N U T", presumably a reference to F C U K. There's also, apparently, in their world, a movie of Aquaman, with a sequel... I'm interested but baffled by the two gents accosting the chugger for Obese Children In Need bottom left???

Next page there's a reference to Fur Q, the rapper from "The Day Today"'s MTV parody ("You have to kill people to respect people").

Next but one page there's a reference to Andy Millman, the main character in Ricky Gervais's "Extras", and on the next page an interview with the heroically profane Malcolm Tucker from "The Thick of It" and "In the Loop".

On the page where Orlando first meets (and ignores) Allan, there's a guy about to beat someone up???

Having visited the "Masonic Hall" in Vauxhall, Orlando is escorted to see "M" (who is clearly Mrs. Peel from the Avengers and is later referred to as "Em") by J3 and J6, who are Roger Moore and Daniel Craig, respectively, past the desk of at least two Moneypennys, one of whom looks a lot like Eva Green and has the shot of Craig emerging on the beach from Casino Royale pinned to her cubicle wall. M similary has a portrait of John Steed on her desk.

When they leave the office, there are other Bonds hanging about, identifiably Brosnan and possibly Lazenby and Connery plus one who looks a bit like David Tennant, maybe meant to be Dalton???

Later Orlando retrieves Excalibur from her wardrobe, next to which is a poster of Tarzan, apparently signed by Lord Greystoke.

When Mina and Allan meet, they apparently share a song. I have absolutely no idea why or what is going on there.???

The next spread vexes me most. At the bottom of the page are six or seven characters including one holding a sign saying "Will Mockney for food". They all look familiar but I can't place any of them.

The next panel appears to be a chase scene involving David Bowie, possibly a reference to the TV show "Ashes to Ashes". The next but one shows a scene of people being helped by paramedics, no idea why.

The next panel clearly shows William Hartnell and Matthew Smith, hte first and eleventh incarnations of The Doctor, looking conspiratorial, and in the next panel they walk off together. Why? And was that Parker from Thunderbirds with them, balding and unshaven?

The heroes then clearly get the Hogwarts express from platform 9.75. The Whomping Willow is in bad shape... and so is Harry Potter.

When Harry starts to bring the Apocalypse, there's a panel at the bottom of a page which clearly features Hiro Nakamura from "Heroes", plus a blond man consulting his watch - who is this man???

God manifests as Mary Poppins. And "Em" turns up with Purdy and, presumably, Tara King. They also refer to "Cathy", being Cathy Gale, waiting at the airfield, who has "some experience as flight instructress", presumably from Honor Blackman's time as Pussy Galore in Goldfinger.

I've obviously missed many, many reference to other works, both visual and verbal, so if anyone can either help directly or point to where they're explained, many thanks...

Just Bob aka Robert Thompson, plugging my film blog cinemainferno-blog.blogspot.co.uk

Skipping most of your post for fear of spoilers: I've read the original pair, and (accidentally) the second sequel, "Century 1910". Before I get to "2009", I need to read "The Black Dossier" and "Century 1969". This is something I fully intend to do.
Disappointingly, I found Alan Moore's prose epilogues rather dense, especially compared to the pacy main comic sections. It's a shame as I consider him generally one of the greatest literally figures alive, and a personal idol. I know he's written at least one prose novel, with limited success.

There are no spoilers as such, unless merely knowing the identity of some of the characters counts as spoilers.

Would it be a spoiler for the first volume to know that the baddie was Fu Manchu? If yes, then do skip. If no, then there's nothing, I think, in my first post that would spoil Century 2009.

Gnomon - time to move on

I've read all the other League of Extraordinary Gentlemen books, and was wondering when this one would be published. I looked for it in comic shops in London just three days ago and didn't find it. I concluded it hadn't yet been published. Looking forward to it, now.

I pre-ordered mine from Amazon some time in March, hence getting my mitts on it early...

(I can highly recommend Jess Nevins' books of annotations - you think you understand how deep and rich the allusions are, then you read the annotations and realise you've not spotted the half or even quarter of it. The only thing I don't understand is - when on earth has Alan Moore had time to eat or sleep or write anything at any point in the last fifty years? He surely must have spent every single minute reading stuff...)
