What the heck is going on with Red Dwarf?!

Okay, I thought I'd let it go, thought I'd accepted that it wasn't coming back. But I now realise I'm not going to be able to do that. So now its annoying the heck out of me.
I started University in 2000 (finished 2004 incidently), and I remember finding out for the first time that the movie was coming out. But come on, they've got to put us out of our misery. I almost know if it came back it would be crap, but I still want to see it. Why? I'm Probably a saddist.
But can we just have something to tell us whats going on. The Movie section of the Red Dwarf (not updated in 4 years) is a torturous reminder of whats happened to it. If only someone could do something with it... please.

Well I heard that Craig stopped doing Takeshi's Castle a few years back because he had to go off to Australia to start filming. After that...nothing happened!!!

I think, the last last series he did the voice over for was first aired on the 15th September 2003. According to the ever adaptable Internet Movie DataBase, the film is still in pre-production:
