Fragilis - h2g2 Cured My Tabular Obsession

I have some (terrible) experience with vertigo as well, though in my case it the cause was never diagnosed despite all sorts of tests being run by a specialist (up to and including a CAT scan).

The doctor said it simply goes away in most patients after a period of weeks or months, and he was right. It took me three months.

I remember nausea so severe I was afraid to stand up for fear of losing my lunch. I lost 15 pounds and missed several days of work. I can only imagine the horror of adding tinitis to the mix. smiley - tongueout

If you're not already, get yourself on some antibiotics. The cause could be viral. I hear there may be homeopathic rememdies for tinitus, but I'm afraid I don't know much about them. My heart goes out to you.

.....many thanks for your help, vertigo does seem to be inner ear related...I have labyrynthitus....which causes vertigo/tinitus....I asked if I needed antibiotics, I even had a throat swab which was clear, but doctor thinks the ear infection will be cured by Stemetil...which increases blood flow in inner ear....and hence lowers high pressure in ears.
All I know is that the more my ears hurt, the more the room turns and the worse the lazer noise is....but there are people with worse things such as cancer, so I am not too bad off really.

Slight update, the room rolling has gone to only sporadically now, now major shaking, just a little eye flickering if switching a light off at bed time.....the only thing that hasn't improved is noise in ears, I am trying a herbal sleeping tablet as keeping me awake at night.

Ear noise still feels like a lazer cutting into my brain, with a slight, lower tone in left ear....if a spoon is dropped it seems to cut right through me....had to walk out of Currys due to noise of televisions.

Glad there's some improvement.

Having had a temporarily deaf ear myself, I can sympathise with the trauma of noisy places. Walking into our canteen at work almost had me in tears.

It's strange though how the type or frequency of noise makes a difference. The incoherent babble can be intolerable, yet loud music is fine. My hubby snoring is particularly aggravating whereas many other sounds can be ignored smiley - erm.

.....yes snoring is annoying at best of times, especially as I means the other person is asleep and keeping you awake, lol.

It has been suggested, not by a doctor, it could be Meniere's disease, but expect E.N.T visit will confirm , Stemetil tablets cover that and Labyrinthitus, so I am covered on all fronts there.

Reading through this lot *sympathy* for you! I've mild tinnitus from time to time. I notice it most in bed and curiously it's often 'set off' by Swatch watches ticking. Worrallman and I have several and we always wear them in bed...Only one at a time you understand.

My ear hallucinations are I'm convinced related to my neck problems. If it's very painful ie movement is next to impossible and lying down total misery. It might be an idea to get the veiw of a physio/chiro on the state of your neck and perhaps try some gentle excercise of same. Try getting hold of a 'neck support' pillow. They're like a sausage shaped cushion - helps me!

Not nice though is it?

Thanks for your advice, sadly I have been told by doctor to give up swimming until problem sorted out, which is a shame as swimming is good for neck and general aches and pains, as well as relaxing. Doctor has given me sleeping tablets which I will keep for emergencies only, like when really being kept awake for days on end....am using herbal tablets for when being kept awake only averagely.

Doctor is trying to bring forward ENT appointment so may have a definate diagnosis then.
