Does anyone agree that A Many Splintered Thing is one of the best BBC Comedy-Dramas since Happy Birthday Shakespear?

I kind of agree but I think that the characters aren't very well delineated - you know they are kind of two dimensional.
I prefer Border Cafe (still no match for Preston Front) but that is because I met the guy who writes it and he is a sweety.

It has a certain Ally MacBeal wackiness to it, linked with a British grittiness. The fact that the gay character is overweight, sloppily dressed and neurotic is also a very good sub-plot.

Are still we talking about A Many Splintered Thing here? I enjoyed the pilot, but the series disappoints me strangely. It's as if it can't sustain a series, like Ali G. getting a full half hour rather than a spot in another show.

I'm going off Ally McBeal, too. It seems to be too 'Hey look at me, I do wacky things with people that I see in strange visions' and not enough of her life any more. I can't put my finger on how this differs from what it was before, but I don't mind if I miss it these days.

Luckily, David E Kelley agrees with you, Dinsdale, and the show is going to be retooled, to get it back to its "emotional core" whatever that may be.

Oh, that's good. Billy and Georgia have just degenerated in to 'annoying'. How can two supposedly intelligent people who make their livings arguing everything from 5 different viewpoints not make themselves clear to each other?

And I am a little pissed off at the notion that a professional career woman like Ali can only be truly happy once she has a bloke - she is just starting to really hack me off!
