I don't think its just the Netherlands: Here in the UK, I stopped buyin CDS, well new cds in record/music shops in teh high street, about five or six years ago: I was getting very baffled, seeing CDs of albums, recorded in teh 1960's and 1970's, and 1980's, on sale for £15 to £19 in high street stores, which were availible with a little looking about on the net, new* for useually under a £10 The last two years or so I think I've pretty much only bought second hand albums on CD, typically from EBay, but also a couple of second hand shops that I've been using for a decade or so, that are probably* a bit more expensive than what you'd pay on say Ebay, but are nethertheless still a darn site cheaper than other stores its beyond me

the strange thing is that a lot of Dutch record stores lower prices about 50% after about 3 months. I would think they would sell more if they would lower the price from the start.
I still like this record company model http://magnatune.com/ 50% for each
