Always surprises me when it's the first or second train of the day that's late too. Not even a knock on effect through the day.

At least you got the funny side of the banana.

My train line runs 24 hours at seven-minute intervals, so there has to be a fairly siginificant mechanical problem or something along those lines to delay me much more than 10-15 minutes. I've been delayed two or more hours on the trip home, though.

I ride one of dozens of systems that have stops downtown. I ride the "el" line that runs from the West Side, through the Loop (downtown) and all the way to O'Hare.

Short for "elevated"; most of the tracks for the eight lines run aon elevated platforms. Two run subway, including mine, which also has some surface-level track. If you're interested, there's a pretty well-done Wiki article about the system: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chicago_%27L%27 . If not, just ignore me. smiley - winkeye

I haven't seen Spiderman 2 smiley - winkeye, but New York City does have a similar elevated rail line, yes.

The line I ride to work and back runs at surface level near my home, switches to underground for a couple stops where the old end of the line used to be, then runs elevated until it reaches downtown, where it runs subway. Them as it leaves downtown it switches back to elevated and then to surface again. So you get to run the gamut on this train! smiley - laugh

I'm really sorry, though, that I deraailed (no pun intended) a thread about tardiness with a dissertation on the Chicago transit system. smiley - blush
