Do you live in the wilds of the countryside?

Do you regularly encounter deep mud, water or other obstacles whilst driving?

If not, then you don't need a 4x4, you need a C-A-R. Perfectly designed for driving on roads and other solid surfaces, safer, cheaper and less likely to turn you into a w****r.

Next question?

What's wrong with them...?

You want the full list?

If you want a 4x4 for off-road use then buy a landrover (or a Toyota Landcruiser)... anything else is just for posing and 99% of other 4x4s are useless off-road.

If you're buying it for on the road use, expect to have scorn heaped on you at every opportunity because:
a) The damn things use so much petrol you'll be buying shares in shell/bp/ etc. and there'll be your own personal hole in the ozone layer following you around the country.
b) They handle like a pig on country roads.
c) They're slow on motorways...
d) They're a pain in the neck to park (being twice the size of a normal car

and finally,

e) You'll never be able to hold your head up in the company of a group of petrolheads again!

Just to put you off a little more...

In a survey carried out by Top Gear in 2002...

Vauxhall as a manufacturer came in 27/33
The Frontera was in eighth position out of the 12 4x4s in the survey
In the overall tables, (all types of vehicle included) it came in 92nd out of just 120 different vehicles)

And that was a survey of over 37000 motorists...

How long have you had your licence and how old are you...

If the answer to those questions is "not long" and "young" then go for something -very- small... buying it won't kill you, but the insurance premiums will!

Other than that...

What are you likely to be doing with the car?
How many miles do you drive a year?
Do you need to shift four people around most of the time?
Are you any good at car maintenance?
Are you any good at DIY?
What's the airspeed velocity of an unladen swallow?

just add some negative comments about the Frontera that haven't already been specifically attributed to it:
It *is* incredibly slow.
It can't do off road anywhere near as well as just about nay other 4x4 out there.
It is cramped inside. it looks big, but inside there's not a lot of room to go round.
So from any perspective, other than that of a cheap big car, there are a ton of better vehicles out there.
