Anyone know about working out?
Emee, out from under the rock Posted Jan 14, 2005
There's a book called "Fitness for Life" that talks about the basics of toning up and staying fit. Losing weight is basic math - it takes a certain number of calories to maintain your weight (don't remember the formula & don't have the book with me). To reduce fat & increase muscle you need a combination of reduced calories and increased activities. The book is handy in that it has worksheets in the back of it and includes a chart of all sorts of activities (walking, running, swimming, rowing, etc) and shows how many calories you burn doing each at your specific weight.

I've got a book on calorie counting and done the maths (I like being scientific) to work out what my Basal metabolic rate, and my BMI, and what weight I plan to get down to.
I'd better work out my calories for the day actually.
