h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

Yes, we are approaching another Unumber milestone. If my calculations are right researcher U1000000 should appear during the next few days.

Looking of the who is online list, the researchers new this week range from U972718 to U989116, so that million Unumber can't be too far away.

But these days there's a lot of competition for Unumbers from sites like Collective and Ican, so that special Unumber could pop up anywhere. But I'd rather like it to be on h2g2, myself. But where do you think it's going to be?

And I know there's a few people around here who like to grab those special Unumbers for their own private collections. Look at U200000, for example. Will any of these competative people be able to grab U1000000? We shall see.

And when exactly, will the number be taken? Place you guess here!

The only 'magic numbers' I got were < A2280467 > and < A3000006 > but like I did say before, the U numbers are used lots faster then by accounts only .

There is a posting in one of the threads on U200000 that suggests Lady Scott had worked it out. Whether she actually did, I don't know.

I always assumed that U200000 was Granny Weatherwax. But I've no idea why, nor any evidence to support my supposition.
