Hello
Possibly a bit of a frivolous question but have people heard of any series that have transferred from TV to radio rather than the other way around.
I can only think of two:
Doctor Who
Trevor's World of Sport (Series 1 was on BBC1 but because of how it was messed around in the schedules series 2 is on Radio 4 at the moment)

I wouldn't say that Doctor Who transferred to radio. There may have been the odd special or two (not the I recall that, though) but it didn't totally transfer.
Equally, there has been a few radio episode of Blake's 7, but nothing permanent.
But, yes Trevor's World of Sport is an interesting one. Andy Hamilton, who writes the show has stated his disatisfaction with BBC 1, but Radio 4 has always treated him well, so he's quite happy there.

I suppose I was pushing it by including the Doctor Who big finish stuff.
But I did wonder if the Trevor's World of Sport was a unique case, and I thought the Doctor Who would pad out the question

Yes, I had heard of one or two, but I can't remember them now. I'll have a think about it.

I found a website that said Doctor Who, Dad's Army and Thunderbirds were moved to radio.
But I think I'd heard of some gameshow or something similar that moved.

Possibly there might be the makings of an entry in this phenominon, though I have too many outstanding half finished entries as it is.

I beleive that there was a radio adaptation of a Bond story before the films started. It may have been Casino Royale, as the was the first Bond book. Bob Holdness (sp?) provided the voice for Bond - that's the one fact I am sure of.

Wasn't that just the TV soundtrack played on the radio?
I seem to remember that there was versions of several of the 'One Foot in the Grave' tv episodes specially adapted and restaged for radio. But there were also episodes where the TV soundtrack was used.

I was wondering that too.
If an entry were to be written I think a distiction should be made between:
1) those that were specifically written for radio, after appearing in other forms
2) those that were adapted to radio (that is, the script is essentially the same, just staged differently)
3) those where it's just the soundtrack for another form played on radio.

I think that is an important distinction to make, because if we get bogged down in soundtracks being turned into radio shows rather than specifically written or adapted for radio shows for series that started on TV it will become unfeasible to do an entry

Though thinking about it, it could be such a potentially research intensive entry it might be better as a topic of the week or something.

This is true. Every possiblity that someone suggests would have to be checked and researched, in order to make sure that it's valid.
