talk...
Here's something I've always wondered... Did Marvin see the actual question imprinted on Arthur's brain or not?
He said he could see it, right before they left him on Hotblack Desiato's stuntship. But we later find out that the Ultimate Question and the Ultimate Answer are mutually exclusive... So anyone have any ideas what question Marvin saw?

He saw a version that was messed up because of the arrival of the Golgafrinchams, who screwed up the program the Earth was running. He didn't see the REAL Question, I don't think.

Well, they are a different flavour. As I've said, I haven't read them in awhile, but I do remember kinda getting hooked on them once I read that bit with Dirk following a random stranger's car figuring they must know where they are going and finding what he needed to find.

At the time of reading it seemed obvious to me that the question was meant to be "What is six times seven?" And the joke was that it was just as ridiculous as the answer. Oh, and that Arthur was too thick to see it

Of course, even though it's unlikely, Marvin might have seen the REAL Question since at no point is he told the Answer.

Marvin is listening in at this point, so he must know the Answer, so he must not have seen the REAL Question. Unless that theory about the Question and Answer being mutually exclusive isn't true.
