You make a damn fine point. He died in about '87, so there was absolutely no way he could have done.

There is no mention of of him or anyone witha similar name in full production credits on IMDB.
If he were connected to the show it could only be as kind of postumous creative consultant. ie. the writers raided his publications for ideas.

Yeah, a lot of people studied Xena (along with other notable females) as a study in the way myth could be treated (it makes no mention of whether the use in Xena was according to or against Campbell's principles).
Oh, I know where I must have got it from- mixing him up with Bruce Campbell.
