I personally love hedgehogs(hence my nickname) but I have yet to see a real one) That probably isn't relevant though.

we had a hedgehog visit us every night for a summer once
it ate lots of the insects in the garden
it also ate dog food very happily

[do not ever feed a hedgehog bread and milk, it upsets their stomachs incredibly and can do lasting damage, dog food or cat food is better, they are carnivorous]

I saw two Hedgehogs the other night walking around very close to the road, so convinced them both to roll up and wrapped then them in my coat and carried them separately into the hedge. I got some very strange looks from drivers.

All you lucky people. I must see a hedgehog before I die. (i'm only seventeen, so dying isn't imminent by the way). Anybody know any good places to start looking?

To see a live hedgehog, the best time is just before dawn or after dusk, anywhere where there is a large slug population. Sit very quietly and listen for a rustling. They're not that shy, at least Lancastrian one aren't. We've had several generation of one family living on the railway embankment at the bottom of our garden, along with foxes, shrews, a badger lives nearby, kestrels, sparrowhawks, and a barn owl visits periodically. Not bad when you think we are only about ten miles from Manchester City Centre.

I live in Cheltenham now, but I used to live in Windrush, a tiny village on the border between Oxfordshire and Gloucestershire. My mum saw one there, but I only saw squashed ones.

I would now like to call a brief moment of silence for prickly roadkill.....................................

Anyway. Maybe if I start hanging around hedgerows at 4am I will be rewarded with a sighting

By the way, Is there a wierd cult going on with people spelling their names backwards? One of my friends calls himself yeliab salochin and if you look at a few of the entris above they are written by aicirtap. wierd.

Dunc !: ' )
