Ahhhhhh well you see I was only commenting on their broadband service....smiley - winkeye

regarding telephone and cable customer services I'm sure they just dig people up and put them in the call centres.... no disrespect to CS operatives but telewest's customer service is absolutely appalling...

I have never some accross such a bunch of incompetant fools...smiley - steam

For example.....

My friend was in Jamaica and gave me her telephone number to call her, the number wouldn't work so I tried to call the international operator, only to get the message that the number I was calling could not be recognised.....

Then I realised that the old 150 number had probably changed to some kind of 118 version.... I looked in the thompson and the yellow pages to no avail.... So I thought that if I phoned customer services they could give me the number...

Alas no.... The caller did not know what I was talking about and logged the call as a fault with my telephone line, she took the jamaica number to check it and after 15 minutes on hold she told me that the number was wrong!!! smiley - grr

anyway in the end I hung up, called 118888 and within 30 seconds had identified that the number was just missing a 1 in the international code!!

3 Days later I had a Telewest engineer on my doorstep ready to check my defective line....

I have so many stories but I've just depressed myself regailing just that one....smiley - winkeye

Not trying to put anyone off though !!!!!smiley - whistle

Interestingly about 10 years ago I had a cable company called Videotron foisted upon me by my Landlord when I was a student in Southampton.
They made Telewest seem highly professional but as I understand it, it was Telewest (or an intermediate entity) that took them over. Is this an evolutionary thing or are Cable TV companies just crap when it comes to Customer Services by law of nature?

The trouble is, now and then a customer of any large business will come unstuck due to an administration/billing mistake. If you're unlucky enough to be one of those people your opinion of the company is bound to diminish. I pay Blueyonder by direct debit and touch wood, smiley - erm haven't had any problems.

I forgot to mention in my last posting, Blueyonder broadband customers can download a small file to assist with customer support. If you need to contact Blueyonder directly for help however the call is free.

If I were to make a criticism of Blueyonder it would be about their email service which recently has been unreliable. On occassions it isn't possible to have one's email on their server delivered via Outlook or Outlook Express which is a pain. It can be viewed though through Blueyonder's webmail link.

One or two mistakes any company can make, it is the continuing catalogue of them without any future hope that they will ever manage to get it right that diminishes my respect for them.
Additionally I've become aware that they have a fair reputation for this as can be seen in this thread and from friends and family I've talked to IRL.
Since my last post I havce received our next months ebill.

That's funny I cancelled that service both on the phone *and* in my complaint letter. They're bloody useless.

I've used Telewests (formerly Eurobell) phone and cable TV for many years. I've never had any problems what's so ever with service or bills which are very cheap.
The only real issue I have is that the only dial up service for the internet available in my area, is their pay as you go service and not a monthly contract. This has meant to my frustration, that I have had to use AOL for the last 2 years as they are the only company who provide an internet service compatible with Telewest.
I was about to sign up to their broadband service but am not so sure after reading this thread.
To go back to the original question, I believe that if you have a telewest phone line, the choice of dial up service is limited ,it can depend on where you live. However, I thought that the 3 choices of broadband connections were available to all.
