Not sure what you find so disturbing.

so. nobody knows who the portrait is of on the bridge of the enterprise t.o.s. and there was me thinking i would log on and there would be a dozen reserchers telling me who it was . i was thinking maybe it was gene rodenberry or zephram cochrane .

You probably need to specify which episode it was before they can do it.

I wouldn't think so. Either, there is a portrait, or there isn't.

the episode was 'return to tomorow' i suspect bel is right it's probably there every week .
has anybody noticed the painting of a vase on the wall outside daphne's bedroom in frazier,s appartment . iv'e allways admired it . i am definately drifting my own topic here !

Knowing William Shanter he probably had a self-portrait on his bridge.

I don't recall a portrait being part of the regular set for the original series.

set for the bridge at least that is.

well all i can say is , that on that particular episode . spock was standing at the rear console , near where he looks into that visor thing and then says "it appears to be a life form made of pure energy captain" every week . and behind him above all the blinking lights and switches were paintings of star systems , nebula and the like . one of the paintings was a shoulders up portrait of a man looking down .
the mystery deepens .
