The only time it looked like I might get married, the first dance song was going to be "Black" by Pearl Jam.
Excellent song, but if you read the lyrics and listen to it, you might agree it's probably best that the marriage never happened...

The only song I danced to at my cousin's wedding reception in '91 was Charly by The Prodigy. Pretty unconventional for a marquee full of tipsy aunties.

I was talking about this topic just last week. My mate wanted "Unintended" by Muse for her walking-down-the-aisle song. I like "For My Wedding" by Don Henley; for the dancing bit a bit of Pink Floyd's "Shine On You Crazy Diamond", but as it's 27 minutes long the question becomes "which bit?". Parts 3 and 7 are good waltz-time pieces.

Is it too egocentric to have 'She's the One' by Robbie Williams?!
That's if I ever get to trap some poor suspecting fool!

I rather thought 'When You Are Old & Gray' by Tom Lehrer or 'The Medical Love Song' by Monty Python. But, then I have "one those senses humour".

IIRC, the first song of my evening do was Smells Like Teen Spirit, closely followed by Papercut by Linkin Park. There were definitely a couple of the less cheerful Pearl Jam songs in there too though.
A friend played Ace of Spades at his wedding - his new wife headbanging in full bridal gear was a sight to behold.

I think I want this for the slow first dance with my (as yet theoretical) wife. The only wedding I've ever been to had nothing but hideous pop music at the reception. If I ever get married, I will get a DJ who understands that this is forbidden, or we will recept in silence and he will nto get paid.

We had "Love is in the Air" from Strictly Ballroom
Later on we got everybody singing along to Always Look on the Bright Side of Life ...
