cleaning keyboard circuits?

I've taken apart a keyboard that had hot chocolate split on it a long time ago. I can clean all the plastic bits, but am unsure what to clean the actual circuit bits with.

The circuits seem to be a double sheet of plastic with the circuits on, and I need to clean all surfaces and in between. Mostly the area is just a bit grimey or sticky.

In places, especially at the point where the key would be pressing, there is actually a black spot that looks like it shouldn't be there or is part of the circuit that has bled.

I think I need to use a solvent or soap as plain water isn't working.

What you need is silver paint (I cannot remember the exact one we used). Where the liquid hit the circuit that is painted on the membrane it may have corroded it (black bits). Clean all the gunk off as well as possible. Once that is done take the silver paint and retrace any bad bits. Let it dry and put it all back together. I would avoid strong solvents. Hope this helps and until later...

Thanks. I still need to know what I can clean it with though.

For any hard surfaces/electrical cleaning I tend to reach for the isopropyl alcohol. In this case though I have to point out that a can of isopropyl alcohol will cost £5.95, a jar of silver paint will cost £8.95 and, if it is a PC keyboard, a new keyboard can be had for £2.95

Keyboards cost alot more than that once you factor in disposal and true manufacture costs (which is to say I don't believe in the disposability of electronics).

I have some high proof vodka, I'll try that smiley - ok
