Dunno the actual title 'cos it's been recorded from a friends CD, but its by Nouvelle Vague & cover of an 80's song; main line is
"I go out on Friday night & i come home on Saturday morning"
(anyone who has more info about this, please tell!)

Can you give any more lyrics? - sounds like maybe Spinners, or am I thinking of 'Saturday night and I ain't got nobody, I got some money cos I just got paid' - don't write them like that anymore!
Me thinking of 'Fly Me to the Moon' - trying to figure it out on my flute, got most of it, but not completely happy.

It's called "Friday Night, Saturday Morning" - I think it's by the Specials - a reasonably good ska outfit.

Yeah - Specials, big hit 'Ghost Town' at the height of Maggie (believe they're still touring), same time as Madness and my all time fave Ian Dury (sadly missed) and the blockheads.
Those were the days, two-tone, ska and signing on! Aaah!

Oh god yes! It was certainly my era too, just didn't recognise this version which is by weird french new wave lot (VERY good)
Probably when the original came out i was doing photos of me mates The Beat, in much the same part of the world.
Cor, don't time fly eh!

I had an old Specials number lodged in my brain yesterday - I think it's called "Do Nothing".
However, having just read a post about The Beat I've now got "Mirror in the Bathroom" playing in my head.

Actually I've had East 17's Alright in my head all day. Unfortunately I'm the baby in the office at work and when they were discussing the music from their childhood and all the new kids on the block songs they used to love, I just stared blankly. Then I said I was more of the East 17 generation and everyone has been singing that song to me all day. Now it's in my head... I didn't like it then and I don't like it now.
