Just how f**king stupid is Ariel Sharon? Sheik Yassin was described on the news as 'a quadriplegic who was nearly blind'. What sort of threat did he pose?

He was also said to be 'directly responsible' for a number of suicide bombings. Please don't say I'm the only one who is appalled by this. The people 'directly responsible' for suicide bombings are the bombers themselves - no one else. You can't talk people into blowing themselves up; they will only do it if they want to.

Please, some sanity.

But Ariel Sharon is still stupid (if he hopes to solve anything by this) or evil (if it's designed to prolong the convict.) Killing Yassin in this way will create more suicide bombers than leaving him alive would have done. This problem rquires a political solution, not a military one (if there is such a thing)

What about personal responsibility? Does this not apply to Muslims? This attitude is a bit dodgy. If I were to tell you to blow yourself up on a bus, you probably wouldn't. But if an Imam made the same suggestion to a Muslim, then that Muslim would immediately go out and do it, and it wouldn't be his fault?

The implication is that Muslims are too stupid and simple-minded to think for themselves or to take responsibility for their actions.

If there's any brainwashing going on it is by religion generally, not 'bad' religion, not a false interpretation, but the beliefs in general.

Yassin might not have been a nice person, but can anyone really approve of dropping bombs on wheelchairs?

That's pretty well the strength of it, yes. In fact, the Imam would probably say he was doing a great thing for the Glory of God, will go straight to paradise, be waited on by beautiful women for eternity, etc.

If you take a ten year old boy, brainwash him for a few of years, by the time he is eighteen he will be prepared to do anything you tell him to. Normal people just not blow themselves up for any cause.

Relgion has nothing to do with it other than the fact the people like Sheik Ahmed Yassin use it as a lever for their own evil ends.

However vile Ronald Reagan is, I still don't think he *deserves* to be stricken with Alzheimer's (which is a terrible illness). But when he dies peacefully I will be celebrating, just as I celebrated the death of Mary Whitehouse (though I wouldn't had she met a terrible end.)

There is something distasteful in all this.

Death is death. Violent or otherwise, natural or self inflicted, it makes no difference. It always leaves something of itself behind - always.

I bet if any of Mary Whitehouse's relatives where to read your post, and whos to say they havn't already, they would be extremely offended as I would be if it were one of my relatives who had died.

Well, I can imagine feeling relief if someone nasty and horrible died, though not exactly 'celebrating' it. I sure wouldn't miss any sleep if GWB fell down an open manhole and was eaten by sewer alligators (for example). Come to think of it, I'm sure I'd sleep much better. . .

hey az, we americans have been trying to figure a way to find that deep manhole that GWB to fall into for the last four years but for some unknown reason he keeps missing it but we're still hopeful!
as far as whats happening in the middle east, you know i really don't give a s#@t what happens to them. i have my own problems with just trying to pay my bills on time and keep my wife from spending all the money on house trinkets..

If the Palestinians had the capability would they be justified in taking out Ariel Sharon in the same fashion? Give reasons.
