Well, I don't know if we're talking about the same thing, but a guy lecturing our school on AI once said the four Fs of evolutionary success were feeding, fighting, fleeing and reproduction.

No,it has to do with dilemmas. If you find youself say face to face with a bear what are your options?Supposedly these options can be applied to any situation life throws at you.

Now we have the question, all we need now is the answer.
42? No. Doesn`t really match.

Perhaps it is Sun Tzu's five fundamental factors of warfare?
Politics, Weather, Terrain, Commander, Doctrine.

Do they all begin with F and are they all one-word solutions? Fight and flee seem to narrow things down a bit, and I'm not sure I can think of many others that would pertain to facing a bear. (Seems fight and flee seem to cover the options pretty well in that case... Of course, the outcome of those choices might produce entire conversations in themselves. )

Here are a couple F words, maybe one of them is it:
Fahrenheit, Focal, Function, failing, fourth, fluorine, Farad,
Filial, Fellow, Farthing, Female, Feminine, Fine, Following, Folio,
Foul, Franc, French, Friday, Faraday, from, fertilization, flowers,
Forte, France, Frankish.
What can I say, I get bored and feel like making people read countless F words. I found these at dictionary.com

No more F-words please.I think confront might be one or something like hug.I know that hugging a bear is not a very smart thing to do....but that's not the point. The point has something to with options. The limit of our options or choices. The five basic choices, there aren't any others, these are your only choices in any given situation.Does this help?
