Any ideas? Is Amazon the best for ordering CD's or is there a better site than this?

I'm looking for Dido's "Life for Rent" CD. The prices over here are exhorbitant. I've already figured that shipping one over from the UK via Amazon is cheaper, but maybe I can do even better if I knew which site to visit.

It isn't based it UK but Hong Kong however it is designed with the UK customer inmind. The website is www.cd-wow.com All albums are at least £4.00 cheaper than in UK and it is fast for deilvery.

Trust me I buy all my DVD's and albums from there and they have never let me down.

anotehr vote for CD-Wow - plus the Life for Rent I got from them (£8.99 flown in from hong Kong on release date) was the Australian version without the copy protection - now I don't advocate piracy, but don't like keeping the riginals in my car so make car copies. This is very difficult these days with some CDs

gosh loads of typos there smiley - biggrin

Also CD-wow will ship to another address, so ideal for presents,

Only one thing, and not sure if other places do this, but they take payment instantly on pre-release orders, rather than on shipping.

And as I said, the copy may not be a UK release so you may miss, or indeed get, extras that are on particular countries versions - my copy of No Angel has a different cover.

Some are UK made, which begs the question, How are these CDs, made in the UK, shipped to Hong Kong, posted back still £1 cheaper than the cheapest shops (Tesos for example) and several £s cheaper than high street music shops?

CD-WOW is the cheapest and fastest. Delivery is included. If you are in Ireland, you pay in Euros. THe price is even cheaper than buying in the shops in Ireland.

They only have a limited stock, though.

Dido "Life for Rent" is at Play.com for 8.49 quid (delivery included). Dispatched within 24 hours.

If I'm ever after a DVD, I got to Play - fast, efficient, and reliable. If they're out of stock, the site will say so, and they don't take the money until the item has been sent. Some nice special offers as well...

I'm not really here

Try Kelkoo - you put the product in that you want, and they search out the cheapest for you - even including postage, and places that take discounts (I think!).

Interesting. Is this CD-Wow still active?
If I see something going unusually cheap on a site I'm not familiar with, I tend to get suspicious...

I think a more appropriate title for that website in 2011 would be "People still BUY actual physical CDs??? Wow."

I prefer to. There are still situations where CDs are useful, apart from anything else. At Easter, I suggested to the family that, instead of taking turns picking a CD to put on in the background, we might eventually graduate onto periods of each person's MP3 player output. The family pretty much dismissed it out of hand.
