I voted. And I wasn't even late for the thing I was on my way to. Admittedly, I don't really know what the local issues are, and I have had no cause to complain about the current incumbents. However, if I don't vote then I can't complain with impunity.

It doesn't matter what I vote in my town, it's one of the safest tory seats. So it's hardly worth the effort, if I want tory, my vote won't change it, if I don't and vote against, that won't either. He'll still be there.

For the sake of argument:
If you contribute to a significant percentage alternative vote, that will send a message to your representatives about what you feel their policies should be, and how you feel about them currently. The French do this on a standard basis, hence the rather misleading strength of the Nationalist party in their last presidential election.

In my area we only had 3 alternatives, forcing me to vote unsavourably as the lesser of 3 evils.
It's about time we had a 'none of the above' box!

At the next election, put yourself up as a 'none of the above' candidate. The Apathy Party, perhaps?

I nearly got 2 votes this time I postal voted from my current address and then they also sent a ballot card to my old address (luckily I still have postal redirect inplace). Turns out the computer system they use can't match on 1 name 2 addresses and work out that one is wrong. So i am officially living full time at 2 separate addresses. They don;t even use the council tax thingy to sort it.

I suspect that the same thing has happened to me. When I was back in Essex during the holidays, I think I saw a voting card for me at my parents' house. When I returned to Manchester, there was also one at my Halls of Residence. Oh, well, I can keep it as a souvenir.

Technically speaking, if you're on the electoral roll in two places (say, parents house and university address) you can vote in both *local* elections. I think.
I think I remember John Major (who he?) voting in Huntingdon and Westminster that we he was PM.
Better check this before acting on it, though!

Well, there was no sign of my postal ballot paper when I was at home at the weekend. A polling card has apparently failed to appear too so I have been effectively silenced this year
I wonder how many other people this has happened to, especially in light of the 29% increase in c/tax that happened last month...

That's somewhat alarming. It might be worth following up on it.

I was given a choice of 3 x Conservative and 1 Labour.
I could vote for "up to three candidates".
To say I was unhappy is putting it mildly.
A pity "None of the above" wasn't standing.
Just by the way, this is the *only* time you will ever get me talking about politics.

Fair enough. It's a shame the LibDems weren't in, then.

I want to vote green, but they never stand in my town.
I'll be voting anyway now, Just Bob has convinced me.
