Stripey printers

Can any of you technically minded people help me with a printer problem?

My printer at work's leaving horizontal white lines across everything. I've tried replacing the ink cartridges, cleaning the cartridge heads and aligning the cartridges. Strangely - I swapped cartridges with those from another printer and the problem wasn't just as bad - although there were still white lines.

It's not causing too much of a problem with anything else except photos which look really awful.

I've booked the engineer to come out and look at it - but, short of kicking it, is there anything else I could try?

When you cleaned the heads did you only do it once? Our printers getting on a bit and takes about three or four cleans to get going - and when we change the cartridge it takes a couple of primes (getting the ink flowing through the cartirdge right) before it settles down.

What kind of printer is it? If it's an epsom it's possible that http://www.epsclub.co.uk might be able to help - they sell full printer head cleaners (not just the shoddy job the printer does on itself) I haven't tried the head cleaners yet but I can recommend them as a source of cartridges (cheap efficient and friendly).

I can't tell you what your problem is, I can however say that my printer does exactly the same thing.

So if someone can help Teuchter; I, too, would be most grateful.

You might try to update the printer driver on your computer, as it does not sound like an ink feeding problem(all the stuff you tried would go a long way to clearing that). The printer may just not be recieving the data quite right and is telling the cartridge to not put out right. Or, alternately, go find a big rock, or better, a sledgehammer and set it next to the printer. Inform said printer that if it messes up again, it may very well be late in the near future. Sounds silly, but it sure works for laptopssmiley - biggrin. But try the driver, and lots of luck.
