Do Zig and Zag count? Technically they're aliens but they were darn cool!

Oh! Oh! Count Duckula, how could I forget him? And DangerMouse and Penfold. They're all cool.

Step back, we have a winner.
Someone earlier said it was gonna be a mouse that won this and Ictoan's hit the nail on the head. Who is greater than DM?? It even says so in his theme music:
He's the greatest
He's amazing
Wherever there is danger he'll be there. etc.
Say no more.

My nominations are
Bill the pony (He's the natural choice... though I guess Shadowfax runs a close second), Buck from Jack London's The Call of the Wild and Hermux Tantamoq from Time waits for no Mouse by David Hoeye

Some great animals so far, but I'd like to include Gromit - so expressive without saying a word!

I wholeheartedly second Teasswill's nomination of Gromit. And running a very close second has to be Gaspode, who can't talk - when did you ever hear a dog talk?...Oh, and by the way...woof.
As for cats, well........
In third place has to be Top Cat and the gang.
In second, Garfield for his love of Lasagna.
and in First - by miles and miles of polar ...
The Pink Panther
