Converting Word to ASCII

Does anyone know where I can get a program that will convert Microsoft Word files (MSWord 97 or 2000) to ASCII text? I have an old DOS program called Word For Word that does this, but it doesn't recognize the newer MSWord programs. Word For Word was made by a company called Mastersoft, which seems to have gone out of business.
