I'm off until 3 Jan. The office opens on 2 Jan but I'm taking that day off.

In work again today.

Over the last few years the management has allowed us to come in wearing causal dress over the holiday period. But this year no announcement was made - so we're all wearing normal office semi-formal stuff.

That's exactly how far the joy spreads around here.

I know that feeling, mind you, we're up to four people who could be bothered today. Although one has only just come in, and will be going in about half an hour, and another is going just after lunch.

What is the point? It's not like we're actually doing anything while we're here.

Sat in my comfy chair surfing h2g2 and reading about xml web services, not very strenuous to say to least.

The uni is closed for staff from the 21st Dec - 2nd Jan add on a few of the 27 (yes thats right 27...I knew there was a reason I took this job - the pay may be crap and the work dull but the holidays are grrrreat) days annual leave I get and I've got a massive2 and a half weeks off . Hubby is working though...for the third x mas running he's had his leave cancelled at the last minute.

If i had my leave cancelled twice at the last minute, I just wouldn't go into work for the time and blame it on an "administrative error", if companies that employ people to look after their calenders can make mistakes like that, then what hope have us mere mortals of remembering everything?

It wasn't an error, the company decided that moving offices at christmas was a good way to avoid upsetting any customers, unfortunately that means that internal systems (hubby) had to be around for the move into the portacabins (xmas 2000) the move out of the portacabins (xmas 2001) and this xmas they've decided to install shiney new servers on a short deadline over xmas .

back at work, and they don't make it much easier by deciding to play the Pop Rivals songs back to back. Its just too much!!!!!!

I'm back, though I'm pretty happy about it. It's the 6:45am start on New Year's Day I'm not looking forwards to
