scrap books are great fun, my diary's doubled in size since I got it...may just make one next year...would cost less too.

I've kept a diary pretty regulary since I was in third grade (er, when I was 9 - been almost 12 years now). I actually went back and reread all the old stuff last summer when I was really bored, and it's quite interesting to see how I've grown up.

I kept a diary daily when I was a child - mostly filled with riveting entries such as 'watched BluePeter on TV' and 'did maths in school today'.
Then there was the adolescent combination of angst and paranoia that led to marginally more interesting entries with hints rather than details because of being sure everybody was out to read my diary and find out my inner secrets In adulthood I've used diaries only very occasionally eg during times of real emotional confuzzlement to try and sort things out.
Mostly though, I stick to holiday journals to try and remember all the places/people/things that really excited and fascinated me. I did once attempt a gardening diary to keep track of what I was planting and how well or otherwise things were growing. Wish I'd kept that one up, might have been useful

Oh yeah - when reading through my old things, I skipped almost the entirety of my high school years. Too little detail, too angsty.
Too darn boring.
