Tom two hundred and ten thousand and ten

Hi everybody,

I'm new here so I don't know anyone, but hello!

I wasn't sure how to 'break the ice' so to speak, but I've been thinking about my personal life and wondering if there isn't something missing, so I thought I'd ask for some advice..?

I've got a great relationship with someone, and my job, while not especially exciting, pays well and affords plenty of fun outside it - I have a good holiday every year and christmas is usually pretty well catered. I'm not really healthy enough for sport, though I like walking and taking in nature and things like that, but I really don't feel very fulfilled. Maybe I just need to change job or something?

I'm ususally too busy to worry about things like this, but I'm wondering what I should do about it, now I am.. I'm sure there are people out there who've been there - can anyone suggest channels I could pursue?

Look forward to hearing from anyone. smiley - smiley

Looking for something to do with your life?

Welcome to H2G2 anyway...smiley - smiley

First things first - Could you put a little introduction onto your personnal space (just click on "my space)
<=== over there somewhere) then "edit". That way people can pop over to your page to welcome you properly...

Secondly, if you click on 'preferences' you can change your name from 'Researcher XXXXXX' to something a little more personal (or just plain silly smiley - weird - depending on your taste smiley - winkeye).

In the meantime, have fun, don't panic, and if you need a hand with anything, just give me a shout (either by clicking on 'reply' at the bottom of this posting or clicking on my name at the top, which'll take you to my page...

smiley - cheers

I said exactly the same thing back in February - now there's major uproar if I'm not seen at least once a week.

Well, maybe a minor uproar.smiley - winkeye

Hi Cloviscat,

ooh, contemplating getting married I think is a combination of tests of relationship seriousness and cost benefit ysis. I mean, we're happy as we are, but thinking about getting engaged brings up all sorts of 'is this for keeps' questions and of course the whole question of money. Her parents aren't very well off and I said if we did take the plunge I'd pitch in, but we're enjoying the income, and quality of life we have together, and I think we'd like that not to deteriorate for the sake of a bit of paper..

So I supposed we're 'betrothed', if not actually engaged.. smiley - erm

Don't bother getting married just for the sake of it, you'll only regret it later on. Although the presents are nice smiley - smiley

hi Tom

not that I have worked my way through it until now, but I think it was "A Girl Called Ben" who mentioned a book about career choices (and finding out what you'd really like to do) in a thread some time ago.

'What color is your parachute' by Richard Nelson Bolles

good luck!

Hello Tom! *waves*

Glad you have a name. Was getting a little complicated! Weclome to the h2g2 fold. Home of the Morris Dancer Jihad, warzone of the WEE and POO factions, random humour and many many clubs and smileys! smiley - smileysmiley - laugh

Methinks you will fit in just fine. The rut you are in will disappear quickly, as you become a h2g2 junkie. Like me. I am the top poster on here...*junkie-shakes*...so fear not!
