Infidel!

Seriously, an awful lot depends on the company and the game. Some RPGs are little more than an excuse to roll dice all evening. Some players treat the whole thing like a competition and try to out-shine everyone else.

On the other hand, it can be excellent entertainment. Get the right atmosphere, and a whole lot of fun occurs. Get the right players, and the tone will vary appropriately from humour to seriousness to tension.

I'd sooner go and RP than see a film (most films, anyway). And research in the States suggested that children who RP have a better grasp of the reality/fantasy interface than their classmates. smiley - tongueoutsmiley - winkeye

Hmm, perhaps they should force all prospective Financial Directors to undergo 1 years Role Playing then?

I think 1 year's withdrawal of oxygen privileges might be a better idea.

Since when has lack of oxygen been fatal for the undead?

Yes, but if they survive it proves they're undead and we can then burn them.

Ah, cunning!

There's a link on SlashDot at the moment pointing to a site with the complete listings for D&D books / modules etc. Apparently it's also got prices on it for the collectors out there smiley - smiley

Knowing my brother played PRGs for about 2 years before me, I really didn't know what all the fuss was about. It wasn't until I actually had a go that I gt sucked in. I still miss the 8 hour sunday sessions we used to have. Although that was when I was working part time, so spending that long on a game didn't seem the huge waste of precious time that it does now.

Aw, but I think alot depends on who you play with. The people I visited were either far too silly or far too show-offy. They also played nasty music which was instrusive. Ah well....

I think its good to get away from it all though. Just not with Eminem, poor jokes and a stagnant cat-wee smell. Sigh....
