There was a poem read out at George Best's funeral which I would like a copy of...

The words went:

"We can be sad that he has gone or happy that he has lived" but I can't remember any more smiley - sadface

Thanks

(Yes, I have tried googling the words, with no success)

I think that was the one his son read - it wasn't a famous poem, I think someone who was a fan wrote it and gave it to him the day before the funeral.

Yes I think he said that a woman, (member of the public), from Belfast, had sent him the poem which he'd read the night before the funeral!

No, that was "The Belfast Boy" - I have heard the poem I mean before. It might have been the first one Calum read...

Actually yes, he read 2 poems. From what I remember one was from a woman and I THINK, (not sure), one was a poem Callum had wrote himself...

You could try contacting BBC TV, as they actually broadcast the funeral!

I found it..thanks.

YOU CAN SHED TEARS

You can shed tears that he is gone,
Or you can smile because he has lived.

You can close your eyes and pray that he'll come back,
Or you can open your eyes and see all he's left.

Your heart can be empty because you can't see him,
Or you can be full of the love you shared.

You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday,
Or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday.

You can remember him and only that he's gone,
Or you can cherish his memory and let it live on.

You can cry and close your mind, be empty, and turn your back,
Or you can do what he'd want.

Smile, open your eyes, love and go on.
