Sheffield has a street called 'Crookes'
Grimsby has 'Cottager's Platt' and 'St Olaf's Grove' did you know there was a St Olaf? What did he do then?

Mycroft Posted Nov 2, 2001
There are two St Olafs: one is patron saint of Sweden and the other is patron saint of Norway. The Norwegian one is by far the likeliest candidate in this case as he spent a couple of years in Britain, very likely docking at Grimsby which was already awash with Norwegians anyway on account of being Britain's main port for trade with Scandinavia.

Is it Rochdale, England, which has a street called "Poultry"? Or was that Bury?
Stockport took the New York road - every morning I pass "Number 6 passage".

Wampus Posted Nov 2, 2001
There seems to be a dearth of queer American street names.
In my town, there's an intersection of two roads: Palm and Johnson. So if you put your dirty minds to work...

If we're talking dirty minds, there's a Mountjoy Square in Dublin.

Rainbow Posted Nov 2, 2001
That's typical of the Irish, they enjoy everything - in Gloucester they have a 'Mount Street' - but no 'joy'!!

Rainbow said " Isn't there a Poultry in the City of London? "
Yes there is, strangely enough.
Blackburn has a Chicken Street.
And King's Lynn has a Duck Decoy Close.

On the subject of poultry...
Bird In Hand Passage is in London
Featherbed Road is in Bristol.
Egg Pie Lane is in Sevenoaks
and London has a Cock Lane ( Is this poultry related or is it just for the dirty minds again? )
Other good ones are :
Leigh has a Strange Street. ( Why is it strange, I wonder? )
Leeds has a Nice Avenue. ( Is that after the French city or is it just a pleasant place to be? )
