Ahh yes, the thesaurus. What a wonderful invention. Then instead of writing a plain letter to someone you pull out your thesaurus and use a lot of fancy words for the same things. And then the guy who recieves the letter has to take out his thesaurus to translate the letter back to plain language. I wish I had invented that thing, so much profit so little meaning.

A thesaurus is a dictionary of synonyms (and often antonyms). Some thesaurus entries are not just one word, but phrases. So another "word" for "thesaurus" is "dictionary of synonyms". Roget's Thesaurus, I think, has this on the cover below the title.

I would like a hypertext thesaurus, because then I wouldn't have to keep going back and forth and losing my page when I look stuff up and find other interesting things along the way.
