The state bird is the robin, according to an encyclopedia I read in elementary school. Michigan is also where my father was born, but since he's not Robin Williams, I don't expect anyone to be terribly impressed by that, although the fact that he lives in Washington (with the rest of my family) is something he doesn't seem to regret. This entry is getting terribly personal in comparison to the almanac-like approach of the first entrant (no criticism implied), so I will conclude by saying personal experience indicates that Michigan is a state where a successful sitcom was set, and where people move when their careers compel them to do so.

I, too was born [hatched, actually] in Michigan, but didn't think anyone would find that particularly interesting, so I left it out of the article. But it has been rather important to me. I am also impressed by the fact that Researcher 54948's father was born in Michigan, and suspect that it was rather important to them as well.

Hi bludragon

I have no other reason for this post, other than to say the most amazing girl I ever met (for one-very short-night) was from Michigan. Where I have no idea. I met while she was out in Killarney, Ireland.

It was kind of fun actually. We met in this nightclub, where she was dancing (and boy could she dance!). We started talking, and I ended up giving her a necklace I was wearing (a dolphin-tail).

Her name was Sarah, she was 24 at the time, a school teacher.

Don't know her, by any chance?smiley - smiley

Ok, this is very sad, I know, but I had a massive crush on her for about a week after she left (I never saw her again *sob*).
