What's going on?
KB Started conversation Apr 22, 2015
Are we really in 2015? It didn't turn out like this really, did it?
I was thinking about Boris Johnson, and I've been swept under a wave of "Nahhhhh, this can't really all be real, is it?"
I'm thinking it's maybe still the 1980s, and I'm ill with some kind of a fever in my granny's house, and I've imagined all this whole crazy couple of decades...
But could I? Could I imagine all this no matter how fevered my brain?
I'm feeling very existentially odd. Maybe I'm just a character in a dream Salvador Dali is having right now.

Welcome to my world I can update a little more recently.... I had a fairly solid feeling until about 1991, or 1992, but anything after then, certainly after 1993, I can't yet find any evidence to support its being real and I do keep getting odd.... 'hints' and 'glimpses' of its all not being real. just like things don't line up quite right.... never 100% to the true... just slightly out of focus, and wobbly.... sort of like an overlay of clear plastic, or some such matterial, maybe even glass, that the so-called percieved world, we're experiencing is overlaid on... and behind which is.... something I can't just quite focus on... I'm not so sure if its exerstential, or just a mental breakdown.... or perhaps a mental break-through... but... its just not... quite... real enough... not quite solid enough... like its all washed out at the edges, just at the very edge of what we can perceive - damnit!; I thought that was just me... this could... be...

Well, maybe a bit later than that. The IRA ceasefire was 1994, so that year sticks in my mind, and things were still pretty real then. So I think we can date this...divergence into the Zweifel Zone...to about 1995, or shortly thereafter.
And then in 1999, h2g2 happened, so all hopes of getting reality back on a firm footing were irretrievably lost...

ahh. 1994 definatly didn't exist. well. not for me, I spent a goodly proportion of it in a coma,..... assuming I was actually still existing at the point I went into a coma...and that wasn't part of the whole generated created reality of non-existance although.... bits since then certainly 'seemed' real enough... studying at uni, spending time getting drunk with people off the internet..... well hootoo... in London... visiting a forign country.... and... some other things....
But I still stick my guns, and say none of its real. - its just a lot easier to cope with if I maintain this attitude (and, I'm not being as as most people think, when I say I've no evidence supporting reality post 1993..... Its helped make my life the surreal rollarcoaster its been, in oh so many ways... 'risk taking' doesn't have the same quality, I guss, otterwise it might have had)

There is only one thing worse than being Gosho, and that is not being Gosho Posted Apr 23, 2015
I don't think the 90s, or any other decade since then, have existed. If you think of the 80s, the 70s, the 60s, the 50s, you get a very clear picture of how things were socially, culturally, musically, but after 1990... it kind of goes grey and blank. We've all been asleep since then, in pods, in the Matrix, providing energy for the machine overlords.
I blame the Labour government, Sky TV, globalism, corporate homogeneity and 2legs, but not necessarily in that order.

Isn't it interesting how Rupert Murdoch had a hand in all those things? Except, to my knowledge, 2legs...

KB Posted Apr 23, 2015
Actually, maybe that's it - Rupert Murdoch destroyed reality!
It all makes sense - if you pick up any of his newspapers, it's clear he objects to it...

I had no idea who Boris Johnson was, so I looked him up. I was intrigued b this info form Wikipedia:
"During his first term, he banned alcohol consumption on public transport, introduced the New Routemaster buses and 'Boris Bikes', and championed London's financial sector"
Nancy "Just say no" Reagan would have loved the clampdown on liquor, and Ron would have applauded the support for the financial sector, so, yes, there is something very 1980s about that part of Johnson's regime.
But a "Conservative" politician having "liberal" views? That sounds odd to me.

that's because what you call liberal and what we call liberal over here are 2 completely different things
Regan (and Thatcher) would have loved Boris. In fact... he might be their bastard love child

You're right. It's hard to look at what's happening in another country and figure it out. Nevertheless, it's hard not to at last try!

Nighthoover probably comes out at night when the rest of us are asleep or afflicted by nocturnal delusions. This is probably the reason why you can't see Nighthoover.

Your insomnia affects you where you are, but Nighthoover would not be where you are. He/she would be here at h2G2, laughing silently at your efforts to figure out what Nighthoover is doing. Silent teases are hard to deal with.

Oh... its got its good moments too.... I canny do any more than a copuole moments actual real doom and gloom, before I have to restor to weird, surreal or just plain silly... and.... I'm still eating... oh... boy and I still eating touch wood that continues, I'm zened, blissed, weirdered or just plain sleepied out of reality to such an extent most of the time, none of it ever seems like its really happening to me anyhow... - I think I kinda freaked out of the nurses, yesterday, explaining to her how I can't feel the needle sth esize of a dagger goign into my chest, multiple times, as they kept missing my port, but... Just being able to pop off elsewhere, whilst I let people do that 'stuff' to me, at least helps a bit I guess , just worrying that maybe I'll go off too far and not ever quite fully come back Bordum is still my main problem.... ; not having any concentration to read, or do anything, and no energy to do anything, and being so tired, whilst often goign days with no more than an hours or twos sleep just isn't helpful Hmmm.... makes some things even more surreal too I guess in some ways

Observe, ladies and gentlemen, for this is 2legs!
His body is doing all sorts of strange things, he bamboozles medical science at least three times a week - and that's a quiet week - and then he says "my main complaint is boredom".

That's astonishingly close to how I function, including the typos....
